Hi all, Following my last post, we recently moved! We have now been in our new place for about 3 weeks, and it slowly starts to feel like home, even though we still have carpets, which I dread, but for now we will just have to make do:) The first thing I do with a "blank canvas" as a new space is, I sit down with a cup of tea and picture what it is I want, then I start to create moodboards for the different areas, to give me inspiration:) Right now, I am working on creating a play area for our daughter who is 2 years old, and even though we have to make do with what we have, and the final project is not going to look exactly like the images I found, its still a very good source to get your ideas flowing and start getting something down on paper. This will help you when you start the sourcing of different pieces for your space. Here you can see my moodboard for the playarea I am currently creating: I want her to have space for reading a book with her, having space to draw and also, create a space where she can get to her toys, to encourage independent play. I am not done yet, but wanted to share my progress with you, so this is the play area so far..... It still needs some framing around the drawing board, some more pillows in the reading area, and I want a tipi or tent, and also some better pictures on the wall, which compliments each other. In addition I would like a real rug to cover up the horrible blue carpet and framing the posters with numbers..... but creating ones home is a process and ones "finished" I will share with you my final result, well almost final, a play-area will change with the child/ren.
I hope this inspires you to get starting on your own play-area. Cheers Linda

So its time for me and my family to pack up and move out of our apartment and into our first house!
I am so excited of the prospect of getting our "own" house and garden. I say "our own" since we are still renting, but its a blank canvas, which I will have the absolute pleasure of decorating! I am already creating inspiration folders and moving on to mood- boards!! Cant wait to share the before and after pictures here ! Happy decorating! |
